Bosch E24: The dishwasher is not draining properly; the drain filter is blocked.
Bosch's page says E24 indicates the dishwasher isn't draining properly because the drain filter is blocked. It lists pooled water after a cycle, unexpected pauses, and gurgling or humming as symptoms, and names a blocked drain hose, a filter that needs cleaning, and a garbage-disposal knockout plug that was never removed as causes.

Fault isolation, in Bosch's order
- Owner check from Bosch's page
- Observation Bosch asks you to make
- Request service: technician only beyond here
- Code should clear
The checks, with Bosch's detail
- 1Check the hose for kinks or damage
Bosch lists this as the first check.
- 2Check that the siphon connection is sealed
Where the drain hose meets the sink drain or disposal.
- 3Check whether the pump cover is loose
It sits under the filter; Bosch says the owner's manual shows where.
- 4If connected to a garbage disposal, confirm the knockout plug was removed
A new disposal ships with the dishwasher inlet plugged. If the installer left it in, the dishwasher cannot drain.
- 5Reset the dishwasher and clear the code
After fixing the cause, reset as the owner's manual describes.
- Does E24 still appear?
Where to stop
Bosch's page says to contact Bosch Customer Service at 1-800-944-2904 (or its contact form) if these steps don't resolve the error.
Not covered here, on purpose: The drain pump, the heat pump/sump and anything behind the kick panel. Bosch's owner page stops at the filter area and hose; so does this site. Read when to stop and call a technician.
