Codes / LG / Washer (front load)
LG OE: The washer cannot drain the water from the wash cycle.
LG's page says an OE code means the washer can't drain the water from the wash cycle, and names a kinked drain hose or a clogged drain pump filter as the common causes.

Fault isolation, in LG's order
- Owner check from LG's page
- Observation LG asks you to make
- Request service: technician only beyond here
- Code should clear
The checks, with LG's detail
- 1Check the drain hose for a kink or clog
Look behind the washer. If you clear a clog or straighten a kink, run a spin cycle and see whether the code is gone.
- 2Run a high-speed Spin Only cycle
Turn the washer on, choose the highest spin speed and press Start/Pause. This tests the drain pump.
- Do you hear a hum (and maybe water draining) in the first 15 seconds?
- 3Clean the drain pump filter
Turn the washer off and unplug it first. Open the small service panel at the bottom left, drain the leftover water from the short hose into a shallow pan, unscrew the filter counter-clockwise over a towel, clean it with a soft brush and warm water (not the dishwasher), brush out the opening, then refit everything and tighten clockwise until it stops.
- 4Run a Tub Clean cycle
If you removed debris, run a Tub Clean cycle and see whether the code clears. If the filter was already clean, LG says excess suds may have created air pockets the pump cannot move: run Tub Clean, use less detergent, then run a normal cycle.
- Does the OE code come back after the Tub Clean cycle?
Where to stop
LG's page says the unit needs service if there is no humming sound during the spin test (the drain pump is not working) or if the code returns after the Tub Clean cycle. It directs owners to request a repair through LG support.
Not covered here, on purpose: Anything past the owner-cleanable filter: the drain pump itself, its wiring, the pressure sensor and the internal hoses. LG's owner page does not describe those and neither does this site. Read when to stop and call a technician.
Same code, different meaning on other brands
None of the other brands in the verified set (Bosch, Samsung, Whirlpool) uses OE on their official pages read on 2026-10-16. If your display shows OE on a different brand, do not apply these checks; use the lookup or that brand's own support page.
Same symptom on other brands
- F9 E1Whirlpool washer: Long drain time: the washer cannot drain correctly.
- E24Bosch dishwasher: The dishwasher is not draining properly; the drain filter is blocked.
Other LG codes here
- UELG washer: The washer could not balance the load for spin.
