The checks, with Whirlpool's detail
- 1Check the shipping bolts are out
Whirlpool says all four shipping bolts and the plastic spacers must be removed from the rear of the washer before it is operated, and that leaving them in can cause noise, vibration or error codes. It refers owners to the installation instructions.
- 2Reset the control
Disconnect power to the control for 5 minutes. If the washer is plugged in, unplug it for 5 minutes and plug it back in.
- Does F7 E1 still appear?
Where to stop
Whirlpool's page says to contact it or schedule service with a provider from its preferred list (service.whirlpool.com, whirlpool.com/contact-us).
Not covered here, on purpose: The drive motor, its speed sensor and the control board. Whirlpool's owner page covers the shipping bolts and a reset, nothing inside the cabinet. Read when to stop and call a technician.
