Whirlpool washer error codes
18 codes, 45 owner checks, every one restated from a Whirlpool support page for the United States and linked below with the date it was read. Nothing here comes from a forum, a repair blog or a service manual, and this site adds no step Whirlpool does not list.

If your display shows something else
Whirlpool shows the same fault under different strings on different models. Every variant recorded on these pages is below, with the code page that carries it. This site does not split a fault into one page per variant.
| On the display | Page to read |
|---|---|
| LC | Whirlpool LoC: Not a fault: the control lock is on. |
| Lo FL | Whirlpool F8 E1: The washer is not detecting the correct amount of incoming water. |
| rL | Whirlpool F0 E1: A load was detected inside during a Clean Washer cycle. |
| Sd | Whirlpool SUD: Too many suds: the washer cannot spin the water out. |
How far Whirlpool's own pages go
This matters more than the code itself, and it is the one thing a code list usually leaves out. For some of these codes Whirlpool's page is a complete answer; for others it stops well before the problem does. Two separate things are worth knowing before you click: whether Whirlpool names a service route at the end, and how many owner checks it gives you before that.
All 18 of these codes end at a service route Whirlpool names itself. Where that happens, the red box at the foot of the decision tree is Whirlpool's own instruction, restated, not a judgement made here.
The 3 with a single owner check
Whirlpool lists exactly one owner check for these. If that check does not settle it, its page has nothing further for an owner, and neither does this site. What a service call would be dealing with instead is named after each one.
- F0 E1A load was detected inside during a Clean Washer cycle. The load-sensing system and the control board. Whirlpool's page lists one owner step and nothing beyond it.
- F8 E2A problem with the dispenser system. The dispenser motor, its valves and its wiring. Whirlpool's page lists one owner check.
- LoCNot a fault: the control lock is on. The control panel. LoC is a setting on Whirlpool's page, not a fault, and this site adds nothing to the unlock sequence.
If your code is not on this page
It means no Whirlpool page for it had been read when this list was built, not that the code is unimportant. The code lookup will say so plainly and point you at the Whirlpool pages this site has read, and the methodology page lists what was deliberately left out and why. Whatever the code, when to stop and call a technician applies.
Pages read for this list
A list page exists here only for a brand and appliance with at least 6 verified codes. Not yet reviewed by an appliance technician. Model-specific pages are not built until that review happens (see /methodology/). Model-specific pages are not built: see sources and review.
