Codes / Whirlpool / Washer (front load)
Whirlpool F5 E1: A door switch problem.
Whirlpool's page heads this code "F5E1 Error Code - Door Switch" and gives no further description, so the door switch heading is the whole of what the page says the code means.
Source: F5 E1 - Front Load Washer (Whirlpool Product Help), last updated by Whirlpool 2025-11-19; read 2026-10-17. 2 owner checks listed.

The checks, with Whirlpool's detail
- 1Close the door and check nothing blocks the switch
Whirlpool says to ensure the door is completely closed and that nothing is blocking the switch, such as clothing or shipping materials.
- 2Reset the control
Disconnect the washer from power for 5 minutes, then reconnect it. If it is plugged into an outlet, unplug it for 5 minutes and plug it back in.
- Does F5 E1 still appear?
Where to stop
Whirlpool's page says to contact it or schedule service through its preferred service providers (service.whirlpool.com, whirlpool.com/contact-us).
Not covered here, on purpose: The door switch itself, its wiring and the control board. Whirlpool's page names the switch but describes no owner test of it. Read when to stop and call a technician.
