Codes / Whirlpool / Washer (front load)
Whirlpool F0 E5: Off balance: the load could not be balanced for spin.
Whirlpool's page titles F0 E5 an off-balance code and says an unbalanced load can reduce spin speeds, so clothing may stay wet and the cycle may run longer than the display shows.

The checks, with Whirlpool's detail
- 1Check whether the load is dripping wet
Whirlpool says that if the load is not dripping, the cycle finished as expected and only took longer to balance, and no action is needed.
- 2If it is dripping, check for an overload
Whirlpool says not to pack the load tightly, because clothing should move freely. Remove a few items and run a Drain & Spin cycle.
- 3Check whether one bulky item was washed alone
Whirlpool says to avoid washing single items, especially bulky ones. Add a few extra garments to balance a single item such as a rug or jacket, then run a Drain & Spin cycle.
- Does F0 E5 still appear?
Where to stop
Whirlpool's page says to contact it or schedule service (service.whirlpool.com, whirlpool.com/contact-us).
Not covered here, on purpose: The suspension, the drive system and the balance sensor. Whirlpool's owner page stops at the load itself. Read when to stop and call a technician.
