The checks, with Whirlpool's detail
- 1Check the detergent type and amount
Whirlpool says to use only HE (High Efficiency) detergent and to always measure it. It adds that very soft water may call for less detergent, and that non-HE or excess detergent can cause suds that lead to reduced spin speed, wet loads or error codes.
- 2Check for thickened bleach
Whirlpool says that if you used no splash or easy pour liquid chlorine bleach, run the washer with regular liquid bleach instead, because the thickener can create excess suds.
- 3Run a Clean Washer cycle
Whirlpool recommends this once the cycle is complete, to remove excessive detergent and buildup.
- 4Reset the control
Disconnect the washer from power for 5 minutes, then reconnect it.
- Does F8 E3 still appear?
Where to stop
Whirlpool's page says to contact it or make an appointment for service (service.whirlpool.com, whirlpool.com/contact-us).
Not covered here, on purpose: The water inlet valve and the pressure sensor. Whirlpool's owner page stops at detergent, bleach and a reset. Read when to stop and call a technician.
