Codes / LG / Washer (front load)
LG dE: The washer door did not lock.
LG's page says dE means the door was unable to lock. dE1 means the door is not closed properly, which laundry caught between the door and the rubber door gasket can cause. dE2 means the door is closed but not locked, and LG names too much laundry, items stuck between the door and the gasket, or a bent or broken door latch as causes.

Fault isolation, in LG's order
- Owner check from LG's page
- Observation LG asks you to make
- Request service: technician only beyond here
- Code should clear
The checks, with LG's detail
- 1Check the door area
Make sure nothing stops the door closing securely. LG names laundry caught between the door and the rubber door gasket.
- 2Open and re-close the door
A door can look closed without being latched.
- 3Reset the washer
Power the washer off, then unplug it or switch off its circuit breaker. With the power off, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 5 seconds. Plug the washer back in or restore the breaker, then try again.
- Does dE1 or dE2 come back?
The same code on LG's full front-load list
LG's full front load code list groups dE, dE1, dE2, E01 and E30 together as a door lock error, with the same reset sequence, and says to request service if it continues. Source: LG Front Load Washer - Error Code List(New), updated 2026-03-09, read 2026-10-17.
Where to stop
LG's page says that if the dE1 or dE2 code continues, service is required, and directs owners to request a repair through its 24/7 chat support.
Not covered here, on purpose: The door latch assembly, its wiring and the control board. LG names a bent or broken latch as a cause of dE2 but describes no owner repair for it, and neither does this site. Read when to stop and call a technician.
