Samsung dC: The door is not detected as closed and locked.
Samsung's washer code list groups these as a door error: the door is not detected as closed and locked. Samsung notes dC is a door error on some models and an unbalanced load error on others. It also says that with Child Lock on and water in the tub the code can appear with no cycle running, and that the washer drains the tub if the door is not closed, or Child Lock not turned off, within 30 seconds. On FlexWash units Samsung says 1dC4 means the rubber button beside the upper washer's latch is missing, and that replacing it fixes the error without service.

Where to stop
Samsung's list says to request service through its Support Center if the code cannot be corrected, or if the door or latch is damaged.
Not covered here, on purpose: The door lock assembly, its wiring and the control board. Samsung's owner page does not describe replacing a damaged latch. Read when to stop and call a technician.
