Fault isolation, in Samsung's order
- Owner check from Samsung's page
- Observation Samsung asks you to make
- Request service: technician only beyond here
- Code should clear
The checks, with Samsung's detail
- 1Look for leaks, including small ones
Samsung says to fix any leak you find, and links its own guide to a leaking washer.
- 2Check the supply and drain hoses are not kinked
Samsung also says not to remove the screw on the back of the washer that holds the drain hose.
- 3Run an empty cycle with no additives
No detergent, no softener, nothing in the drum.
- 4If suds appear, keep running empty cycles
Samsung says suds in an empty cycle mean too much detergent, or a detergent that is not HE. Keep running empty cycles until the suds stop, then check whether the code returns.
- Code continues with no suds?
Where to stop
Samsung's list says that if no suds appear and the code continues, request service through its Support Center.
Not covered here, on purpose: The leak sensor, the tub seals and anything behind the panels. Samsung's owner page does not describe opening the machine and neither does this site. Read when to stop and call a technician.

These verified pages use the code 1E (or one of its aliases) for something else:

Same symptom on other brands
