Fault isolation, in Samsung's order

- Code should clear
The checks, with Samsung's detail
- 1Check the supply hoses and connections
Hot supply to the hot inlet, cold to the cold inlet, with no bends or kinks. Samsung says not to use Flood Safe hoses, and that a missing hot connection can trigger the code even on cold cycles.
- 2Open both water valves fully
Leave them open while the washer runs.
- 3Check the drain hose
It should be inserted about 6 to 8 inches into the standpipe and not kinked. Do not remove the screw and holder on the back of the washer; Samsung says if they are missing, service is required.
- 4Power-cycle the washer
Unplug it or switch off its breaker for one minute, restore power and start a cycle.
- 5Clean the inlet filters
Turn off the valves, disconnect the hoses and clean any debris from the filters. Reconnect and reopen the valves fully.
- Does 4C still appear?
Where to stop
Samsung's page says to visit its Support Center to request service if the code persists after these checks, and that service is required if the drain-hose screw and holder are missing.
Not covered here, on purpose: The water inlet valve assembly, pressure sensor and wiring. Samsung's owner page does not describe opening the machine and neither does this site. Read when to stop and call a technician.
Same code, different meaning on other brands
None of the other brands in the verified set (Bosch, LG, Whirlpool) uses 4C or 4E/1 4C/nF on their official pages read on 2026-10-16. If your display shows 4C on a different brand, do not apply these checks; use the lookup or that brand's own support page.

- SUDSamsung washer: Too many suds were detected; the washer pauses and then continues on its own.
