Codes / Whirlpool / Washer (front load)
Whirlpool SUD: Too many suds: the washer cannot spin the water out.
Whirlpool's page says the washer has too many suds and cannot spin out the water, so it automatically extends the rinse time: it pauses tumbling and adds water to rinse more, which lets the bubbles break down, and this may happen several times.

The checks, with Whirlpool's detail
- 1Check the detergent type and dose
Whirlpool asks whether you are using HE (High Efficiency) detergent, and says to follow the detergent manufacturer's dosage for the soil level and load size, because too much detergent can cause oversudsing. It says to use larger detergent pacs only for large or heavily soiled loads.
- 2Check the bleach
Whirlpool asks whether you used no splash or easy pour liquid chlorine bleach, and says that type can cause excess suds. If you did, run the washer with regular liquid bleach.
- 3Run a Clean Wash cycle
Whirlpool says to run it after a cycle finishes, to remove excess detergent and buildup.
- Does SUD still appear?
Where to stop
Whirlpool's page says to contact it or schedule service from its list of preferred providers (service.whirlpool.com, whirlpool.com/contact-us), and lists the customer service line 1-866-698-2538.
Not covered here, on purpose: The pressure sensor and the drain pump. Whirlpool's owner page stops at detergent, bleach and a cleaning cycle. Read when to stop and call a technician.
